Think there won't be any updates for a long while after this one.
Gonna take some time to shape up many things.
Only confirmed update would be Feb 1st, Hourly Comic Day.
May have stuff before then, may not.

Dear Diary, today I read my Chemistry Textbook and barely understood a single word it said! I am going to fail, aren't I? But you'll still be my friend, of course. I know Chemistry is not what matters to you. It feels so good talking to you Diary, it helps me relieve stress and feel that I am not alone. I am so glad I decided to keep you.

(Past Monologues)
Guess who found some crayons and then proceeded to scrawl out the events of his day on pretty coloured paper instead of getting angry at his parents and shouting at them which would most definitely get him a good spanking even though he felt justified in being angry.

Something I made for the AYC newsletter (no idea if it was printed in the end.)
The topic was "What can youth in ASEAN do for ASEAN" or something like that.
I'm digitally remastering the stuff I scribbled into various books during the AYC about the AYC. They'll come up soon.

Friday, July 24, 2009 WALL OF TEXT WITH A HEART
I haven't got a comic to put up today.
Don't even have a random doodle.
What I do have are some sudden urges to talk about things to the internet which listens to me but dosen't actually hear a thing.
Because recently, I've been thinking about all the relationships I've had with people over the internet. (All of them contain no romance however I am so boring.)
Like, I'm not sure how many non-gamers will get this, but sometimes when you play a massive multiplayer online role-playing game (keywords being multiplayer online and roleplaying) you WILL most likely run into plenty of people, and have all kinds of dealings with them.
Usually these dealings are to profit at their expense, or to get help for something you can't do on your own.
Sometimes these dealings just happen. Like when you're in a group with some complete strangers by chance (or because they're being nice and helping you out) and you suddenly realize that all of you are slightly crazy and also share similiar interests and sense of humor.
And then you put them on your virtual friend list so you can ask them for help again some other time.
The next time you meet, on purpose or by accident, you continue having a great time with them and pretty soon you guys are fast friends, and unlike other long-distance friendships (like with people you meet at conventions or camps and trade email addresses with or ex-classmates), the in-game world constantly provides you with common conversational material which most conversations need to start upon. (After saying stuff like "Whoa this NPC is beating me to death with a jug." or "lol some guy is asking me for 'g0ld plzzZZzz' and he won't stop." the conversation can head anywhere.)
It's like having good friends, except you'll never see their faces, or hear their laughter, but through the way they type, and the things they do in-game, and the way they play their characters, you can't help but feel that you know them, as a living, breathing, real as can be person. As a friend. A pretty good friend.
In-game relationships that stay strong even without the shared need for killing monsters are pretty rare. But that's what makes those that do form extra-special.
You made friends out of strangers. In a public place. And you find that you guys can all joke and laugh and talk and ponder the mysteries of life together, and these conversations last from the moment you log on to the moment one of you has to go to sleep.
And then one day, some/all of you slowly begin to lose interest in the game. Be it an attempt at proving to their real-life friends/family that they aren't gaming addicts, or simply a lack of time, this circle of friends will slowly, but surely, fade away.
It's a slow process, the hibernation of a friendship, but it can also happen to any kind of relationship where you lack time to meet face-to-face.
I believe I've made genuine friends over the internet, playing runescape (!!) and World of Warcraft (on a private server, I'm such a cheapwad.), and I did enjoy spending time with them (albeit in a virtual world.) and would do it again if we had the chance (perhaps even in person, like if everyone ran around wearing a nametag bearing their in-game name and you happened to bump into someone you knew that way).
And I miss them, which is why I wrote this.
Oh man I hope you guys don't think I'm crazy now for missing people I met over the internet. I just had to get this out.
Even though I know they'll probalbly never read this, and we'll never talk again, now that I've left those virtual worlds, and so have many of them.
Life goes on.

It's been a while, I know, but I present to you
Taffy And Socks' Pre-Father's Day Adventure!
An Epic Adventure of Friendship and Honor and Duty presented in three easily-digested parts.
Yes I know father's day was THAT long ago but I drew the first two panels like, two days before Father's Day and then decided not to waste them.
Also the journey is more important than the destination.
High-fives are also more important than closure.

So, it took me a week to get these things scanned, but here are my Adventures in Cebu (At the Youth For Christ International Leader's Conference) from April 3-5 2009.
It was a fantastic conference, and not only did I get to meet awesome people from overseas(some new friends, some old) but I also had a nice refresher course from God on how to make my life work out for the better.
And these were drawn on leftover pieces of paper in an old Biology Flipbook(On mitosis!) which I recently re-discovered. They were drawn in various settings, but mostly on the flights there and back and in the hotel room. They are mostly in chronological order, and all of them are REAL.
Reality Comics yo.

Yes I am considering a return to my roots.
Peacemakers, BoiledToast, heck, even Chuck the Stupid Bird require too much planning, too much emphasis on plot and character development and exploring the human psyche and they don't have enough Jeep Potato Wombat Chainsaws.
Perhaps we all need more Jeep Potato Wombat Chainsaw.

Feel free to combine it with any other Chinese New Year greetings you already know of, and Celebrate the tradition of a Chinese New Year! (Totally different from the normal New Year, that one has booze, this one has a massive exchange of money.)
And yes you can print it out and paste it on walls no problemo. But if you want to sell these you'll have to discuss terms with me first.
P.S. Oh, for those non-chinese speakers, this is pronounced as "PEE (a hard, firm emphasis) GUU KAI (A gentle tone) HUA (also a gentle tone.)"

Wednesday, January 14, 2009 (Hourly Comics Jan 12/13 '09)
Look guys I tried this thing called Hourly Comics whereby you do one comic for every hour you are awake.
I tried once on Jan 12th, monday, but forgot about it halfway and...yeah.
So I tried again on Jan 13th, and made it through almost the entire day. (Yes I skipped the 10-11 hour but I made two comics during some other hour earlier in the day and I was also really tired at that point so I guess that makes up for it.)
The reason why the comics start to come in individually-wrapped packages from 3.15pm onwards was because Yixun, who was nice enough to lend me his scanner, decided to go and darken all the lines and stuff. He also scanned them in at 600DPI which is really large if you did't know. So if you either like the improved contrast or hate the fact that they take so much longer to load go ahead and thank him.
(But his constant playing of "Crush" is still driving me crazy.)
I'm still working on Issue Two of Peacemakers(yes that is here to stay whether you like it or not.), and will also be participating in Hourly Comic Day on Feburary First and I'll release more details about it later. Suffice to say that Hourly Comic Day was created by this guy called John Campbell in 2006. Go read more about it on your own.

Read V for Vendetta, the comic version, recently(That and nine other comic books which have been keeping me from drawing a comic of my own.)
It was awesome.
The artwork is average(unless you're a fan of those dirtily-hand-drawn old-style comics), but the way the panels flow, the detail that is placed in subtly yet blaringly, the angles Alan Moore and David Lloyd chose to use when laying out a particular scene, those are absolutely beautiful.
It's not exactly a kid's book though.
But if you get the chance you might want to read it.

Can you imagine if Singapore was like that.
The world would be all like, WHOOO LEE HSIEN LOONG WON!! LEE HSIEN LOONG! LEE HSIEN LOONG!!
And people from all corners of the earth would send us messages wishing us well and that we'd foster better trade relations with them and all that stuff.
Meanwhile, Chiam See Tong sits in a corner and wonders why everyone else in his party cannot make it, and MM Lee's scolding of James Gomez would be televised worldwide and he'd become a celebrity somewhat like Sarah Palin.
What fun.
P.S. If any of you saw the previous version of this, where I forgot to eliminate the extra stuff I use in my colouring process, uhh...I hope a floating Sam head did't cause any trauma.

(I drew em on paper with a pencil because my tablet's being fixed. I want it back. But maybe after the exams.)
Also, since for the first time EVER there exists a HARDCOPY, would anybody be uhh...interested in purchasing them?
P.S. Don't stare too hard at the pencil lines. You'll see my obvious failings at getting things right the first time.

Other things involving my tablet.
Which refuses to boot up.

Yes Valerie thinks that the Straits Times Online Interactive Portal is rather awesome too, because hey, who dosen't like gossiping and bitching when you could actually be using that oppotunity to teach without causing major embarassment?
Those names aren't aliases for pre-existing characters either.
They MAY not even be in canon! DUN DUN DUUN.
Posted at 11:08 PM
Okay I know I said a comic by tuesday and I'll do my best to keep that promise, but meanwhile enjoy this never-before-seen strip which was actually featured my original idea for Valerie.
It got shelved because I took too long drawing it and forgot the punchline and also realized that maybe it was a bit too crammed to unleash so many new characters at once (Number 45 was soon after Jenny was introduced and I was still trying to develop her character)
Stuff fell into place more recently, and I managed to slot her into Sam's life.
If you're observant you'll also realize that her name was originally Elizabeth. Or Liz, for short. I changed it for various reasons. Anyway, what Elizabeth/Valerie 1.0 and Valerie 2.0 DO have in common is mild (or maybe worse) insanity.
And that uncanny ability of making her eye appear out from behind her hair.

What even Chuck has abandoned me. Along with my use of punctuation.
Let this be a warning to you kids. Homework makes your creativity run away from you.
Also, I appreciate those of you who have been coming back, but I have to say that I have no idea when I can update next. Possibly not for a week or so. I'm not only low on ideas, I'm swamped with work. And the prospect of failing more things.
Dangit.

Emo-Man, Emo-Man,
does whatever an Emo Can!
Cuts his wrists, extra-fast
Gets real sad about his past
Look out
It's Emo-Man!
He shoots blood out his wrists and recites gothic poetry instead of wisecracks!
He's the Anti-Hero of our generation!

I'll be out tonight, so yeah, a Chuck The Stupid Bird instead of a regular comic.
And I'm sorry, but I can't say when the next one'll be out, 'cos well, there're tests next week and homework and stuff. Pretty annoying.
Also "The Dark Knight" is an awesome show. In every way.
Heath Ledger shoulden't get an Oscar, because if he did, it would only be fair to give one to like, most of the cast in that show.
Seriously. I think that highly of it.

It is of my opinion that that redhead be crazy.
Tomorrow, you will either see how Sam manages to wiggle his way out of this situation, or a Chuck The Stupid Bird. Or maybe something related to Batman.
Depends on how much time I have.
But I promise there will be something.

I am having trouble drawing the next strip.
Reasons range from lack of motivation to too much homework to simple inablity to get the angles and sizes right.
Also, I fell sick today. Joy?

Sorry for the lack of postage, was busy the past couple of days.
New comic should be up by monday.
Chuck the Stupid Bird will run everyday until monday or whenever I finish the next comic. Basically, you'll still have stuff to read until then.
And do me a favour, help me advertise, spread the word about this place. I need to know how large a viewership I can possibly generate, so I can decide if I should go directly into studying some webcomic-related degree or instead go learn something else and take a job in a non-comic-related field.

Today's Cheem math joke is from Jonathan, and he advises you to go wiki "Topology" or something.
Hooray for JT for giving me an oppotunity to slack off and still appear productive!
JT is too smart for his or our own collective good.
